Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan are set to celebrate cross Culture Days in 2024-2025, marking a significant step in strengthening cultural ties and cooperation between the two regions. This initiative follows a series of high-level meetings and discussions aimed at fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.

    Key Takeaways

    • Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan will hold cross Culture Days in 2024-2025.
    • The initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties and cooperation.
    • High-level meetings have been held to discuss the details and implementation.

    Background

The idea of holding cross Culture Days was first discussed in November 2021, when the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, Azamat Zhamankulov, met with the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan, Irada Aiupova, in Bishkek. During this meeting, the ministers discussed the implementation of previous agreements and the need for continued cultural exchanges.

    Recent Developments

In February 2024, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, and the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, met in Kazan. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the first international multi-sport tournament, “Games of the Future.” Both leaders expressed a common interest in deepening cultural ties and sharing experiences in sports and culture.

    Planned Activities

The cross Culture Days will feature a variety of activities aimed at promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Some of the planned activities include:

    1. Mutual Tours of Artists and Groups: Artists and cultural groups from both regions will perform in each other’s territories, showcasing their unique cultural heritage.
    2. Joint Film Production: There are plans to produce a film based on the work "The Day Lasts More than a Hundred Years" by the famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
    3. Publication of Literary Works: A collection of works by folk writers and poets will be published in both Kyrgyz and Tatar languages.
    4. Cultural Heritage Events: Tatarstan will host large-scale cultural events to celebrate the 1,100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam, and the 45th UNESCO meeting on cultural heritage will take place in Kazan.

    Significance

The cross Culture Days initiative is a testament to the strong cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan. It provides an opportunity for both regions to showcase their rich cultural heritage and learn from each other. The initiative also underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

    Future Prospects

Both Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan are committed to making the cross Culture Days a success. The leaders of both regions have agreed to prepare a joint action plan to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for more cultural exchanges and strengthen the bond between the two regions.
