    • Discussions focused on cultural cooperation and youth policy.

    Ministerial Changes

On October 3, 2022, President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan signed a decree relieving Azamat Zhamankulov from his duties as Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy. This decision was made following Zhamankulov’s written request to step down. Subsequently, Altynbek Maksutov was appointed as the Acting Minister, with his candidacy to be submitted for approval to the Jogorku Kenesh.

    Diplomatic Engagements

    Meeting with Azerbaijani Culture Minister

On April 24, 2024, Altynbek Maksutov met with Adil Gabil oglu Karimli, the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, in Baku. Maksutov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the successful organization of the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan. The two ministers discussed enhancing cultural and humanitarian relations and increasing interactions between artists from both countries.

Meeting with Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister

On the same day, Maksutov also met with Farid Fazil oglu Gaibov, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan. The discussions centered on bilateral cooperation in youth policy and sports. Maksutov emphasized the importance of mutual participation in tournaments, particularly those organized by the Organization of Turkic States. He also proposed developing a bilateral roadmap to further strengthen cooperation.

Participation in CIS Cultural Cooperation Council

Earlier, on November 19, 2020, Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov, the then Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan, participated in an online meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of CIS Member States. The meeting included representatives from various CIS countries and focused on discussing common cultural issues and strengthening international cooperation. Kadyrbekov highlighted several cultural activities executed between 2016 and 2020, such as the World Epics Festival and the International Theater Festival "ART-ORDO."

These recent events underscore Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to fostering cultural and youth cooperation both within the CIS and with other nations.
